What makes me healthy? It first started with my sister about 7 years ago. She had always been healthy and fit and had to slowly watch me grow into an unhealthy very unfit person. She wasn’t going to have it. It certainly wasn’t the best time of my life. Struggling with certain stresses of life, I chose drinking more often and eating everything I could get my hands on.

My sister put her foot down and made me start running. Of course I couldn’t run at all so I started walking, then jogging then finally racing almost every weekend.

What keeps me in shape? Raising two young runners. Trying to keep up with a 7 year old at races isn’t real fun. In October my family and I will be running our first Marathon. If my 7 and 9 year old are looking forward to it, then I have no choice.

Having a much healthier lifestyle has changed my life in too many ways to talk about. It’s not easy getting up at 4:00 every day to make sure I get my run in and take care of my family but I do it. Why? Because I can. And when people say they can’t … I want to scream.

Who inspires me? My 7 year old, Keegan. Watching him run, watching him race, watching him run his 1st half marathon and get excited to register for many more before his full marathon is what inspires me. He’s what keeps me going.
